Why Does Hair Turn White?

The moment we have a strand of white hair in a fit we end  buying various dye  products that claim to hide the greys. But somebody around would tell us its a sign of wisdom and we are ready to tread on the new path in our lives, though it would not suddenly make anyone happy. But the question remains why does hair turn white?

The color of the hair is due to the pigment present in hair follicles. The melanin pigment present in hair follicle cells is of two types. If the pigment strength is more, the hair look darker and if the pigment strength is less the hair appear light in color. The white or grey hair is due to the absence of the melanin pigment. As our age advances our hair changes from dark to white naturally. Some people develop white hair even at a young age which could result from deficiency in thyroid or vitamin B12.

As we age, the cells containing the melanin pigment eventually die. As the melanin synthesis weakens, the hair shaft also starts diminishing its color. The hair starts turning white as it keeps growing. When all the pigment cells die, the hair will turn white permanently. This stage of turning dark hair to white will be decided by the genes. If there is no vitamin deficiency or any other problem then white hair results at a certain age characteristic to the individual based on his genetic inheritance.

The other reasons for the occurrences of greys are because of improper nutrition, reduction of iron in blood and smoking.

Why Do Men Go Bald?

Has your bald head become a cause of worry for you as it attracts mocking glances from people around you? A fairly large size of male population experience it and are embarrassed due to it while most fail to make any attempt to solve the problem. The baldness can range from complete baldness to baldness in patches, leaving only little patches and chunks of hair visible on the head.

There are myriad reasons for why men start turning bald. The reasons range from genetic, stress- related to even hormonal conditions. Under normal circumstances even prolonged illness or heavy dose of medications are the reasons behind it.

Everyone including women experience hair fall but not all can be attributed to baldness because in some cases the lost hair grow back again but when the lost hair fail to grow back that is when it is equated to baldness. Men who are genetically pre- disposed to baldness are far more likely to experience its onset at an early stage than those who develop it because of other reasons.

A regular exercise regimen, adequate diet pattern and avoiding stress- related situations can stall the onset of baldness as in most cases malnutrition, stress are other contributory factors of baldness in the male populace the world- over.
