A Good Night With Your Pillow


Pillows are used mainly to comfort us while going to sleep, as all of us just love to cuddle up with them. They provide rest to the tired mind and the body and once we use them all our anxieties are at bay.


The right kind of pillow can provide adequate support to the neck and the spine which can rid one of the frequent neck and spine pains. The several advantages of using the right pillow are:



1. Pillows keep the head, neck and the spine in alignment.

2. Largely what makes a good pillow, is ones personal choice and as per the comfort that the pillow provides. If the pillow feels comfortable, it is more likely to relax the person and therefore, a sound sleep.

3. To help the pillow conform to various sleep position, it is best if the pillow can fit the unique shapes and curves of the individual body while sleeping.

4.When sleeping on the back, the height of the pillow should be lower than in the sideways position.
5. Placing a pillow, beneath the knees at times helps alleviate the knee pains and back pain.

5. If some prefer sleeping on the stomach, the pillow should be relatively flat.
Over a prolonged period of use, the pillow loses its firmness and no longer supports the neck, when a pillow has reached that stage it should be replaced.

6. When sleeping on the back, placing a pillow beneath the back of the knees helps reduce the load on the lower back.

7. Pillows filled with grains are often helpful in case of spinal disc degeneration, spinal stenosis and other ailments.
