Why Are Ghosts White?

Legends have it ghosts appear before people draped in all white. White is known to be a serene color and after a person  dies even they become calm and more serene and only lose their temper in case of an impending revenge. They get back at those with a vengeance from whom they want to avenge their death. But most ghosts are harmless.

Because the ghosts are universally invisible they appear in white as it is the only color that is visible even in pitch darkness. Ghosts are associated with all things scary, the reason why they are said to appear in the night. White for long has been the universal color for the ghosts.

Halloween, the day when all things morbid are celebrated the ghosts characters appear in all white to accentuate their presence. The reason behind ghosts being white may have probably emanated from here.
